Commanded Blessing (III)

Introduction

In this edition of our newsletter, the concept of ´commanded blessing` of God is elaborated. Hard work is seen as a necessary ingredient to be wealthy but it is not always the case. God has the power to bless without having to do hard work.

Reaping the Benefits of others

The power to bless or to be wealthy is in the hand of GOD. It is God who empowers His children to get wealth (Deut 8:18) by giving them special grace and favor to reap the fruits of their labor. Sometimes, God blesses people not because of their hard work but because they reap the fruit of other people´s labor (Joh 4:38). This is evidenced in the scripture which reads that: “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Pro 13:22).

The above assertion has also been echoed in the book of Ecclesiastes, that, “For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit” (Ecc 2:26). The commanded blessings are possible if God wants to bless a believer. He knows how to take it from one person and give it to another. This is not to encourage laziness but to impress it on the hearts of humans, that God has the power to make people rich or wealthy without many tears.

The Lord Shall Command

“The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways. The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee” (Deut 28:7-8).

We have here, unlike the previous paragraphs, where the blessings of God are commanded upon believers without hard labor. The blessings of the Lord God so promised in the above paragraph is upon the works of the hands of the believers. God expects believers to work to receive His blessings. He blesses the works of their hands so that their storehouses would be filled to the full. Every work that they would decide to do shall be blessed. Everything here does not mean working without due diligence or the wisdom of God but that God would lead you to discover what would yield abundance fruits.

Conclusion

The Lord God has the absolute power to bless His children without adding tears or sorrow but believers must be lovers of hard work so that God would bless the works of their hands.

Prayer: Dear Lord, may you give your children the wisdom and the grace required to receive your commanded blessings in due time. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
